PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

1. During the period 1991- 1994 I was involved in the following scientific projects:

• January 1991 – April 1992: Kinetic of enzymic and non-enzymic reactions; development of Flow Injection Analysis system with enzymic reactors for the rapid analysis of components in foodstuffs (Research Committee, University of Ioannina).

• January 1991 – January 1992: Monitoring of waters and sediments of lake Pamvotis (Region of Epirus).

• May 1991 – May 1993: Extension of European Environmental Research Institute (EERI) in the sector of Food Analysis. Study of Environmental impact in surface waters and agricultural products in the borderline between Greece and Albania (INTERREG).

2. 1994-1997: European Environmental Research Institute, Ioannina / Greece, as research associate. Among the other undertakings I was involved in the realisation of the following projects:

 

• March 1994 – April 1996: Synthesis of new compounds towards the sensitization of spectrophotometric method of phenols analysis (PAVE).

• January 1996 – October 1997: Study, installation and monitoring of olive oil mill wastewater treatment plant (EPET II). Study and installation of ventilation and air-conditioning systems in EERI (RETEX, ETBA). EERI scientific responsible for the project WOODPOLE, Integrating the processes involved in the production of creosoted utility poles in the framework of European program FAIR (5th call).

• October 1997 – November 1998: I joined the Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of Cordoba / Spain (Prof. Dr. Perez Bendito) as post-doctoral fellow of Spanish government in the scientific project: Kinetic of Degradation of Carcinogenic Environmental Compounds.

• December 1998 – September 2000: I worked as a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Analytical Chemistry (Prof. M.I. Karayannis) of Chemistry Department, University of Ioannina, Greece.

• October 2000: I was appointed to a Lecturership in Analytical Chemistry of the Department of Chemistry, at the University of Ioannina.

• June 2001 – September 2001: I worked as a DAAD fellow at the Institute for Hydrochemistry, Technical University of Munich, Germany (Prof. R. Niessner).
