Dr. Ioanna S. Kosma is a Chemistry graduate of the University of Athens (2009). She earned her Master’s Degree in Chemistry (Food Science and Technology) from the University of Ioannina, Greece in December 2013 in subject “Optimization methods for the determination of biogenic amines by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS. Study on biogenic amine production during the shelf-life of trout (salmo trouta)”, and her PhD in Chemistry (Food Science and Technology) in May 2018 in subject “Differentiation of botanical and geographical origin of Greek olive oil samples using instrumental analysis and chemometrics”. She has been a post-doctoral researcher-associate of Department of Chemistry, University of Ioannina since 2019. She has worked as teaching assistant in Department of Chemistry, University of Ioannina since 2012 and been participating in the supervision of undergraduates, postgraduate students, and PhD candidates since January 2013. She has worked as an adjunct Lecturer (2020-2021, 2021-2022) and adjunct Assistant Professor (2022-2023, 2023-2024) in Department of Chemistry, University of Ioannina (Laboratory of Food Analysis and Technology, Advanced Food Laboratory, Oenology Laboratory, Laboratory of Physical Chemistry II, Viticulture, Oenology I, Oenology II). Furthermore, she has worked as an analyst-chemist in a private analysis laboratory (IPER-Epirus Laboratory, Physicochemical and Microbiological Analyses, Ioannina, 2017-2018) and as an experienced researcher in 6 research programs, both European and National. She is trained and qualified in various techniques such as Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS), Gas Chromatography-FID, High Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry qTOF, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS). She has published 37 research papers, 2 book chapters and 6 academic notes since 2016. Her research interests include food authentication and adulteration, micronutrient analysis in food, food preservation and processing, food packaging and consumers’ perception and preferences.
